Cannabis Processing Manager (Manufacturing)
What You'll Do:
The MIP Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations in a regulated cannabis processing lab, including extraction, post-extraction products, pre-roll production, packaging, and edibles manufacturing. This role involves extracting cannabis via various methods and ensuring quality oil and terpene supply for product manufacturing. The MIP Manager may participate in product development and support future product launches and extraction methods. Regulatory compliance is a key responsibility.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead and manage extraction workflows—CO2, hydrocarbon, ethanol, and solventless—ensuring compliance, personnel accountability, and achievement of production metrics such as yield, purity, and safety standards.
Supervise post-extraction processes like winterization, solvent removal, decarboxylation, and distillation, ensuring cannabinoid retention and product clarity. Manage infusion operations for edibles, ensuring consistency and compliance.
Coordinate production planning to align capacity, staffing, and materials with demand, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost control.
Manage laboratory equipment such as extraction systems, pumps, evaporators, and distillation units, ensuring functionality and SOP compliance.
Maintain communication with leads regarding resource allocation and goals.
Guide leads to execute daily objectives and processes.
Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities.
Collaborate with sales and brand management to align processing goals.
Work with cultivation and packaging managers to establish production plans.
Communicate daily with management on outputs, goals, issues, and forecasts.
Monitor production output, ensuring targets and timelines are met, with quality control enforcement.
Maintain inventory and records of supplies, raw materials, finished products, and equipment.
Understand tracking systems like Metrc and Dutchie for compliance and labeling.
Maintain relationships with third-party partners.
Implement GMPs and ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Ensure tasks are completed safely and effectively.
Communicate clearly about equipment repairs, maintenance, and departmental needs.
Provide leadership and foster a positive team environment.
Conduct supervisory duties including hiring, training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.
Follow all GMPs, handling practices, and safety protocols.
Promote a zero-tolerance approach to order rejections and housekeeping.
Perform other duties as assigned.
