THE OPPORTUNITY Join us in building a more inclusive world at Braille Institute of America. We are undertaking one of the most transformative initiatives in our history, planning our next century of success in serving the blind and visually impaired communities. Through our 2024-2025 strategic planning process, we identified the next generation opportunities to advance critical initiatives in areas such as customer research; the expansion and transformation of current programs and services; the development of new nationally and internationally accessible programs; the creation of dynamic new strategic partnerships; and the alignment of our mission, strategy, and resources. If you are ready to join a dynamic organization transforming the lives of individuals experiencing vision loss, we want you on our team. WHO WE ARE At Braille Institute, we are driven by a shared purpose: to serve the blind and low vision community. We come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, finding fulfillment in the impact we create. We believe in fostering a culture that is collaborative, inclusive, and flexible. We understand the importance of work-life balance, valuing both personal and professional fulfillment. Here, you'll find an environment that supports your well-being while providing opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive alongside colleagues who are sighted and visually impaired. Join us in embracing technology and innovation as we shape the future of accessibility and positively transform the lives of those with vision loss. Job Summary At Braille Institute, we’re reimagining what library services can mean for people who are blind or have low vision—especially seniors who love to read, write, and learn. We are seeking a creative and strategic leader to shape the next generation of virtual and in-person programming that excites, educates, and inspires a national audience. Our Library is the largest service we provide, reaching tens of thousands of individuals each year—and we’re aiming to grow that number significantly. This role will be instrumental in helping us reach new patrons across the country by developing compelling, inclusive, and accessible programming that draws in those who may not yet know what the Braille Institute Library can offer. This is not a traditional library role. We want a compelling storyteller, content developer, and experience designer who can build innovative, engaging learning opportunities and meaningful partnerships that will attract and retain readers and lifelong learners across the U.S. The Senior Manager / Manager of Library Programming and Digital Learning will help transform our library into a hub for connection and creativity. From virtual author talks and book clubs to writing workshops, podcasts, and live events, this role will lead content and programming efforts that build community and joy around literacy, learning, and the arts. What You Will Do Lead the development of innovative, accessible programming designed to grow the reach and impact of Braille Institute Library—our largest and most far-reaching service. Attract new library patrons nationwide, especially seniors who are blind or have low vision, by offering content that is engaging, enriching, and easy to access. Design and deliver a compelling slate of library-based experiences such as: live author talks, cultural conversations, storytelling events, reader and writer workshops, thematic book series, and podcasts. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners—including authors, publishers, nonprofits, media outlets, and accessibility tech providers—to co-create and promote standout offerings. Innovate program formats, using accessible multimedia tools and platforms to ensure inclusion and engagement. Continuously evaluate program impact and adjust for optimal reach, relevance, and accessibility. Work cross-functionally with the Senior Director of Virtual Services to expand reach, amplify content, and align programming with digital strategy. Oversee delivery of content production from concept through execution, using in-house resources like our audio recording studio. Promote programs through PR and communications in collaboration with our marketing team. Manage and mentor a team, fostering a creative and collaborative culture. What We’re Looking For Required: 3+ years of experience in program development, content creation, event production, or digital learning—especially for older adults or community audiences. Track record of building engaging, innovative educational or cultural programs. Proven ability to connect with audiences through storytelling, authorship, or public programming. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with digital platforms such as Zoom, YouTube, or podcast production tools. Demonstrated interest in accessibility and inclusive design. Comfortable with creative partnerships and collaborative development. Preferred: Experience serving blind or low-vision audiences, or a strong understanding of accessibility practices. Familiarity with adult education or lifelong learning theory. Commitment to promoting the cultural value of libraries. This position title and pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range:
