This position is shared between 2 sites (North End & Charlestown). The Director of Nursing is accountable for the delivery of consistent, high quality patient care and promotion of development and satisfaction of nursing and non-physician clinical staff. S/he will be expected to develop and implement operational efficiencies and ensure compliance with regulatory policies and standards of practice. This role is an essential leadership position at NEW Health, encompassing patient focused management, personnel management, programmatic/strategic/regulatory involvement, and development of collaborative and team partnerships within the organization. The Director of Nursing will have lead nurses in each unit managing the day-to-day operations at each site (North End, Charlestown, & Charlestown High School). Patient Care
Promotes an environment that is sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of patients and employees. Evaluates the outcomes of patient care; uses patient satisfaction and population health information to recommend and integrate appropriate changes. Manages abnormal PAP tracking program. Supervision And Quality Improvement
Serves as co-chair of QI/QA Committee which evaluates quality and safety performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and plans and implements programs for improvement. Supervises laboratory services provided at all sites, and phlebotomist staff, in conjunction with the nursing lab supervisor. Leads nursing staff meetings. Has oversight of the vaccine management program implemented by lead nursing staff. Oversees PCMH and Joint Commission Standards for clinical compliance. Participates in the collection of clinical data needed for the HRSA Uniform Data System, UDS. Administration
Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and conducts vulnerability rounds with Director of Safety and COO. Serves as the Chair of Infection Control Committee, and collaborates with the CMO, clinical staff and committee members to develop, review and implement processes and policies for infection control. Conducts clinical Policy/Procedure/Process review and revision/development in conjunction with leadership. Orchestrates annual employee flu vaccination program in conjunction with MGH Occupational Health. Participates as a key member in preparing for and participating in regulatory surveys (DPH, JC, BPHC). Attends meetings as necessary. Participates in strategic planning activities. Works on special projects as necessary or as directed by the CMO, CEO and/or the COO. Job Summary
Directs, plans and coordinates the service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering quality patient care. May provide direct patient care. Essential Functions
Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff. Ensures a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors and staff. Coordinating unit activities with other hospital departments. Develops and implements staffing plans. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Nursing required or Master's Degree Nursing preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials
Registered Nurse [RN - State License] required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS Certification] preferred. Basic Life Support [BLS] Certificate preferred. Experience
Nursing experience 2-3 years required and Nursing Leadership Experience 1-2 Years Preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong commitment to clinical excellence. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided. Physical Requirements
