Responsibilities
The Police Commissioner's Office is seeking two Agency Attorney, Level III candidates who will assist with Department disciplinary operations. They will be responsible for: Performing difficult and complex legal work on behalf of the Department; Preparing and presenting complex cases involving significant legal implications for the Department and City; and Reviewing, revising, and approving agreements prepared by other attorneys and reviewing Administrative Law Judges' decisions. Selected candidates will work with/for the Police Commissioner's discipline team. Work Location

Agency Attorney - 30087 Minimum Qualifications
Admission to the New York State Bar; and either "2" or "3" below. One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; or Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Intern (30086). Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment. Experience Requirements
To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at AL I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment. To be assigned to AL III, candidates must have two years of experience in AL I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in relevant areas of law. Preferred Skills
Thorough knowledge of the New York State Penal Law, Federal Law, the NYC Administrative Code, and Rules of the City of New York as it relates to firearms licensing. Ability to manage a diverse, complex, and sometimes unpredictable workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues. 3-4 years of criminal law practice in New York State is strongly preferred. Litigation experience is preferred. Experience prosecuting and litigating misconduct, public integrity, and corruption cases is preferred. Residency Requirement
