Summary
The Government Relations Manager is responsible for building, maintaining, and managing the company’s relationships with government agencies, elected officials, and regulatory bodies at the local, state, and federal levels. This role plays a critical part in shaping the company’s public policy strategy and ensuring regulatory compliance, particularly as it relates to permitting, manufacturing operations, and broader corporate objectives.
The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in government affairs, law, or political fields, with a strong understanding of the policymaking process and a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, government staff, and regulatory agencies to support the company’s business interests. Monitor legislative and policy developments that may affect the company’s operations; analyze and report on potential impacts. Represent the company in interactions with city, county, and state governments, ensuring a proactive approach to emerging regulations and local initiatives. Coordinate and manage the factory permitting process, including documentation, renewals, and regulatory submissions. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements related to factory operations, labor, environmental standards, and more. Assist in drafting position statements, reports, and communication materials to support government relations initiatives. Serve as the point of contact for government inquiries and participate in relevant meetings, hearings, and events. Collaborate with legal, compliance, and operations teams to align internal practices with regulatory expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Communications, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred). Minimum of 7 years of experience in government affairs, legal counsel, or public policy roles. Strong knowledge of governmental and regulatory processes at the local and state levels. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a professional demeanor and political sensitivity. Proven ability to analyze policy and regulatory changes and develop strategic responses. Experience working in or with manufacturing or industrial organizations is a plus. experience in crisis management, community engagement, and corporate advocacy.
