Job Goal: The Extended Learning Program Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for coordinating services and delivering academic support to students served by the Extended Learning Program. This program supports Somerville Public School students who are pregnant/parenting, chronically absent, long-term suspended, and/or at risk of dropping out. Students enrolled in ELP will be taught to the same academic standards as all students in the Commonwealth. The program employs highly qualified teachers, counselors, and tutors. The Coordinator will oversee the work of ELP teachers, tutors, and counselors, collaborating with school/district administrators and parents/guardians. Working with school administrators, the Coordinator will implement best practices in adult learning and credit recovery, ensuring students needing flexible learning environments or on long-term suspension have opportunities to earn a high school diploma. Qualifications

Master's degree Five years of outstanding teaching/counseling or related experience at the high school level, including experience with young adult learners Experience with instruction using online learning platforms Experience with computer-based programs and internet resources Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Dual licensure including SPED, ESL, or bilingual preferred Responsibilities

Coordinate the academic program for students at risk of dropping out and those on extended suspensions (per Massachusetts law, Ch. 222) Collaborate with the Somerville High School Principal, Full Circle Principal, Counseling Department Head, and Learning Community staff Provide outreach to high-risk students and those on suspension Oversee individualized study programs via online platforms to support continued education Assist with special education needs as required Supervise and facilitate academic and social-emotional support components in collaboration with school leadership Organize and schedule Extended Learning staff Participate in advisory committees to review outcomes and recommend improvements Consult regularly with committees regarding dropout prevention policies and professional development Coordinate positive behavior interventions such as Restorative Justice, Mediation, and therapeutic services Follow School Committee policies and administrative procedures Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent of Academics Terms of Employment

Yearly appointment from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026 Stipend position Position reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Academics, in coordination with the Director of Student Services.
