Your New Role…

CNN is looking for a skilled investigative video editor to craft visually compelling stories for our broadcast, digital, and social platforms. This role requires expertise in editing, story structure, and visual storytelling, as well as proficiency in OSINT research and digital verification. The ideal candidate will collaborate with reporters and producers to shape impactful investigations, manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, and help translate complex findings into clear, engaging narratives for a wide audience.

Key Responsibilities

Pitch, edit and assemble visually compelling investigative stories for CNN broadcast, digital, and social platforms. Collaborate closely with reporters, correspondents, and producers to shape story structure, integrate visuals, and refine scripts. Use industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Avid, etc.) to cut long- and short-form investigative packages, incorporating field production, interviews and found footage. Conduct deep-dive OSINT research using social media, satellite imagery, public records, and digital forensic tools. Must have experience with FOIA process. Help translate complex investigations into clear, visual narratives — working with animators, motion designers, and data teams to visualize findings. Manage multiple investigative projects simultaneously, meeting both long-term and rapid-turn deadlines. Proactively monitor ongoing news developments for potential investigative angles and quick-turn exclusives.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in video journalism, preferably in a broadcast or digital newsroom. Demonstrated ability to produce impactful, video-first stories. Solid storytelling skills, with a deep understanding of visual narrative techniques. You must have extensive video editing skills; familiarity with CNN production workflows is a plus. Proficiency in OSINT methods and tools; experience in digital verification, geolocation, and metadata analysis. Solid news judgment, journalistic ethics, and an unrelenting attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines in high-pressure environments. Strong organizational and communication skills. Willingness to travel as needed for reporting assignments.
