Role Overview: As a CPU Power Management FW Developer, you will work with a team to enable power management solutions for Qualcomm's custom CPUs. Your responsibilities include defining and implementing embedded firmware to manage CPU operation within power and thermal budgets, and characterizing and tuning these solutions for Qualcomm's SoCs with custom CPUs. You will collaborate with hardware power management and firmware teams, engage with third parties for platform enablement, and contribute insights to architecture teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field + 6+ years of related experience, OR
Master's degree in related fields + 5+ years of related experience, OR
PhD in related fields + 4+ years of related experience.
At least 3 years of experience programming in C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Responsibilities:
Drive firmware design, implementation, and verification in pre- and post-silicon environments.
Help define limits management solutions for future Qualcomm CPUs.
Engage with open-source communities for processor architectures, device drivers, and firmware features.
Assist in skills requirement identification and hiring, collaborate on platform bring-up, debugging, diagnostics, and firmware lifecycle management.
Preferred Qualifications:
BSc/BEng in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years in embedded firmware development.
Technical leadership and initiative-taking.
Proficiency in C and assembly debugging and writing.
Experience with driver development in RTOS or OS Kernel environments.
Experience with embedded OSes like Zephyr, eCos, uC/OS, or FreeRTOS.
Experience with pre-silicon development including simulators and FPGA emulation.
Experience tuning power and thermal solutions for SoC subsystems is a plus.
Familiarity with ARM v8 architecture; ARMv8 platform experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent movement within offices and campuses.
Ability to lift and install equipment up to 5 lbs.
Work at various heights and monitor/test equipment for over 6 hours daily.
Effective communication skills for in-person and remote interactions.
