MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master's Degree in Nursing. National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia. BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department. Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) Certification required immediately upon hire (based on class availability). EXPERIENCE:
Eligible new graduates will be considered. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
ACGNP certification or ACNP preferred, but FNP will also be considered. EXPERIENCE:
Acute care, critical care experience preferred. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements describe the general nature of work performed by individuals in this position. They are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. Manage comprehensive and individualized care for patients and families in the inpatient/critical care phase of hospitalization. With collaboration of critical care staff or by following established protocols and scope of practice, order additional tests or consults to manage patients. Perform, interpret, and communicate results of diagnostic tests. Consult and communicate with critical care and inter-professional services regarding abnormal findings. Develop individualized care plans including teaching, discharge planning, and referrals. Participate in physician/team rounds. Identify unstable or complex patient situations and facilitate interventions. Recognize emergency situations and initiate emergency care. Demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills. Utilize basic equipment safely. Facilitate patient discharge or transfer by coordinating services. Make decisions based on scientific principles, standards of care, and research. Promote a learning environment respecting patient/family preferences. Update knowledge base regularly. Complete all clinical competencies. Mentor nursing personnel at all levels. Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and teams. Document care plans, interventions, and evaluations clearly. Adhere to performance expectations in People, Service, Performance Improvement, and Values. Perform initial assessments and develop care plans for new admissions. Ensure patient summaries and orders are current and accurate. Ensure smooth transition of care when patients leave ICU. Perform procedures within scope of practice as directed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires strength and stamina, including lifting and moving patients and equipment over 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves close collaboration, irregular hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, working with or near deceased individuals, water, and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment. Reasonable accommodations are available. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
