Project Manager – Highway Lighting & Signalization
The Ruhlin Company is seeking to hire a
Project Manager – Highway Lighting & Signalization
to join our team. This role reports directly to the Vice President of the Civil Division and can either be based out of our
Gahanna, OH , or
Sharon Center, OH office locations. Job Summary : Plan, organize, and manage all resources for successful project execution with a focus on highway lighting, traffic signal systems, and electrical infrastructure. Lead project teams to ensure quality, schedule, cost control, safety, and client satisfaction objectives are met. Responsibilities: Cost • Manage budgets, procurement of materials (e.g. conduit, cabling, lighting fixtures), and subcontractor agreements. • Track job costs and perform regular margin analysis for work performed. • Assist in electrical scope definition during preconstruction and estimating phases. Owner and Stakeholder Relationships • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, DOT representatives, and utility companies. • Review and negotiate electrical change orders and pay applications. Project Execution • Oversee installation of highway lighting, traffic signals, ITS systems, and related infrastructure. • Manage subcontractors and in-house crews performing electrical work. • Ensure timely completion of electrical inspections, energization, and commissioning. Quality • Ensure all installations meet project specifications, code requirements, and quality standards. • Coordinate inspections with local authorities and utility providers. Safety • Collaborate with the Safety Director to ensure safe work practices and compliance with NEC, OSHA, and DOT standards. • Conduct monthly safety inspections with a focus on electrical hazards and lockout/tagout procedures. Schedule • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for electrical scopes, including lighting, signals, and power distribution. • Coordinate with the civil and structural divisions to align electrical work with overall project timelines. Team Leadership • Mentor foremen, superintendents, and project engineers. • Promote best practices and ensure compliance with company standards. • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Chief Engineer. Essential Skills and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field. • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing electrical scopes in civil infrastructure projects. • Proven experience with highway lighting, traffic signals, and bridge electrical systems. • Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, and ODOT standards. • Proficient in Microsoft 365, Teams, Viewpoint Vista, HCSS, P6, and CAD. • Excellent leadership skills. • An ability to effectively manage multiple projects and crews simultaneously. • Outstanding time management and organization skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Team-focused mindset to build strong working relationships. • Commitment to Company values.
