Naik Consulting Group is currently seeking a Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) to support our on-going and future transportation/infrastructure projects. Naik is a New York-New Jersey engineering services firm which specializes in engineering design, field inspection, and Project Management/Construction Management, primarily in the transportation infrastructure industry. Responsibilities

Performs trade specific code and/or Quality Control inspections on various phases/aspects of elevator/escalator/lift equipment. Performs all duties of a QEI to detect possible defects and faults in equipment fabrication, testing, installations, maintenance, operation, and recommend or stipulate appropriate remedial measures per Jurisdictional requirements. Reads, interprets, and comprehends equipment operation and installation plans and instructions. Has knowledge of standard testing devices and methods to ensure equipment operation meets established requirements. Applies code requirements and related standards in accordance with state, local, and national regulations, as well as department policies. Generates inspector’s reports. Coordinates work schedules with elevator service companies/technicians to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Works cooperatively with construction project managers, property managers, service companies, and the project team. Conducts all work operations in accordance with established safety practices, ensuring all work is completed without hazard to self or others. Understands mechanical and electrical principles as they apply to elevators/escalators and similar controls. Recognize possible violations and defects and be able to correct them. Applies the American National Standard Safety Code for Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators and Moving Walks, as referenced and amended in the Construction Code, as well as jurisdictional requirements. Reads architectural, engineering, and installation drawings, including hoist way and machine room layouts, schematic drawings and comprehending and make inferences from written materials and code documents.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical Engineering, or related field of study preferred. A degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering preferred. Associate degree with relevant years of industry experience will also be considered. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the engineering construction industry. performing escalators and elevators inspections, service, and testing of such systems. Current QEI certification. Competence in electrical construction principles – NFPA 70, voltage, currents, grounding, able to read electrical circuit diagrams. Ability to innovate by creating sound alternatives and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges when needs arise. Ability to write technical reports clearly and concisely. Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence. OSHA 30-hour safety course is preferred. MTA Track Safety training is highly desirable.
