We are seeking an experienced tax professional to manage hedge fund and private equity tax compliance. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of international, federal, and state/local taxation across various alternative investment fund structures. This position reports to the Head of Tax Compliance and will involve a range of responsibilities, including: Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the review of complex tax allocations and securities adjustments for hedge and private equity funds, such as 704(c)/(b) allocations, private equity tax waterfalls, stuffing, wash sales, constructive sales, qualified dividend analysis, 1233 adjustments, straddles, 1256 contracts, swaps, flow-through K-1s, and UBTI. Review international, federal, and state/local tax returns for partnerships, corporations, and composites. Review and/or prepare investor tax estimates and additional tax reporting, including PTET. Manage foreign and domestic SPV tax accruals, projections, and estimates. Review regulatory filings including FBAR, CbCR, FATCA, and CRS. Ensure timely responses to federal and state tax notices and manage correspondence. Maintain accurate records of tax payments and refunds. Collaborate with accounting and external vendors to improve information flow and streamline processes. Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have: 8+ years of tax experience in public accounting or a similar role, with a focus on hedge funds/private equity. A strong desire to continuously learn, embrace challenges, and seek feedback for improvement. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and communicate effectively about plans and deliverables. A commitment to developing best practices, recognizing the need for ongoing process evolution. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage both internal teams and external stakeholders. A demonstrated ability to implement quality control measures and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for identifying issues and discrepancies. A highly organized, results-driven approach to managing projects.
