Salary: $115,596.00 Grade: 29 Closing Date: 02/18/2025 Job Summary:
The Physician Assistant (PA) will work in close collaboration with the ADCRR Medical and Mental Health Director to ensure comprehensive healthcare for incarcerated individuals in Arizona State Prisons. The PA will assist in developing and maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality. This role is essential in delivering quality healthcare and supporting the patient management team. Job Duties:
Review and evaluate inmates’ medical and psychiatric conditions to determine appropriate facility placement at entry and during incarceration. Provide guidance on facility capabilities to meet patient needs, assess resources, and oversee infirmary care, assisted living, and mental health housing. Enhance timely medical/psychiatric designations and manage bed utilization. Track length of stays and discharge planning. Develop, implement, and evaluate utilization management strategies to support agency goals. Identify utilization trends, assess their impact, and report findings to leadership. Conduct educational training for medical, mental health, and custody staff on utilization management topics. Maintain clinical policies and procedures in accordance with ACA and NCCHC standards. Lead multidisciplinary meetings, including addressing concerns of transgender inmate-patients. Collaborate with external agencies and healthcare providers for continuity of care. Review charts for special requests and referrals. Participate in meetings with ADCRR staff and external partners to facilitate communication. Drive on State Business and perform other related duties. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge:
Principles of correctional healthcare management, relevant laws and regulations, quality assurance, fiscal management, and computer skills. Skills:
Effective communication, organization, decision-making, leadership, research, delegation, and public relations. Ability:
Manage healthcare programs, analyze policies, prepare reports, multitask, build relationships, and meet deadlines. Selective Preference(s):
Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program; three years correctional healthcare experience; five years primary care clinical experience. Pre-Employment Requirements:
Valid Arizona license, certification (FNP, AGNP, NCCPA), CPR certification, background check, drug test, TB test, driver’s license if applicable, and E-Verify compliance. Benefits:
