Amazon Web Services (AWS) Job Description
How would you like to be a part of Earth’s most customer-centric company? You would work with teams of front-line responders supporting the operations of some of the world’s most powerful data centers. Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems to ensure reliability and readiness. AWS has the world’s largest cloud computing portfolio. As an Amazonian, you will work in some of the most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers globally. Our Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs) help keep them that way by testing and implementing new technologies and practices to meet market demands. Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, ensuring 24/7 reliability. Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS). Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within SLAs. Perform rack installs and decommissioning within SLAs. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment. Write technical documentation to support change management. Manage daily work requests from initiation to resolution and execute projects from conception to completion. Support on-site contractors, ensuring work complies with practices, procedures, and legislation. Work shifts may vary up to 12 hours and include on-call rotations, depending on site needs. This role may support multiple locations/sites. Physical Requirements
Ability to work in conditions requiring lifting up to 39 pounds and participating in group lifts for heavier loads. Maintain balance and perform construction tasks on ladders. Regularly walk, handle tools, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, twist, bend, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects. Work in environments requiring ear protection. A Day in the Life
This role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance of mission-critical data center equipment, reporting to the Facility Manager. Equipment includes standby generators, electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS, PDUs, batteries, and mechanical systems like chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and motors. Support equipment includes fire/life safety systems, building automation, and general facilities equipment. About The Team
Our team owns the design, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and equipment to ensure continuous service. We collaborate across disciplines, uphold safety and security standards, and foster an inclusive culture that encourages innovation and ownership. Why AWS?
Amazon Web Services is the world’s most comprehensive cloud platform, trusted by startups and Fortune 500 companies alike. We value diverse experiences, inclusivity, mentorship, and work/life balance, aiming to be Earth’s Best Employer. Basic Qualifications
