Senior Manager, Technical Training (Gas Utility)

The Senior Manager of Technical Training is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of technical training programs that support safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the gas utility business. This role ensures that all training aligns with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and operational excellence goals, including Operator Qualification (OQ), pipeline safety management systems (PSMS), and emergency response readiness. Accountabilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive technical training strategy for gas operations, including field personnel, supervisors, and technical specialists. Lead integration of OQ training with systems such as SAP and SAM to ensure traceability and compliance. Oversee the development of training content for new technologies, procedures, and regulatory changes. Ensure all training programs meet federal and state regulatory requirements (e.g., PHMSA, FEMSA). Establish metrics and audit processes to assess training effectiveness and close skill or knowledge gaps. Partner with Engineering, Operations, Safety, and HR to identify training needs and deliver targeted learning solutions. Support emergency preparedness through tabletop exercises and mock drills in coordination with local emergency responders. Lead a team of training professionals and field instructors; provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development. Manage training budgets, vendor relationships, and learning management systems (LMS). Education and Experience
University - Bachelor degree or equivalent. 5 years of experience with gas utility technical training and PHMSA Operator Qualification requirements. Effective communication and presentation skills. Experience leading a team of training professionals and field instructors, including coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
