Senior Product Developer

will work under general supervision of the VP of Product to create new products, ideate, develop, test, and collaborate with others to introduce cutting edge products to support the company’s growth strategy. This role will team up with experienced chefs and the Commercialization to produce new products. This role will interact with leaders across the company and must possess excellent communication skills and comfort in working within a high change environment and must be comfortable juggling multiple priorities. Compensation Band:

$130,000 - $150,000 per year RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in the identification, design, development, creation, and testing of initial products and refine until ready for commercialization. Manage scale up trials of products and work closely with commercialization, co-man, and operations team to train on process. Develop commercially viable products for Momofuku Orchard alongside team, from initial stage until commercialization for both limited introductions as well as national product launches. Work across functions to ensure product works with designated packaging and serves proper functionality. Develop and codify specifications, formulations and initial pricing for all approved raw materials, process controls, and finished goods. Alongside marketing, implement consumer testing. Along with QA/QC, acquire all relevant tests/certifications for specific products and ensure they adhere to required food safety regulations and standards. Work with 3rd party labs to test and analyze products. Develop and maintain FDA & USDA food product labeling that complies with regulatory requirements and/or customer requirements. Produce product specification sheets. Creatively solve technical problems in a rapid, efficient manner. Assist in pipeline prioritization and technical assessment of future innovation project and ideas. Deliver accurate product trial details to, and collaborate with, key cross functional leads to guarantee accurate and on-time set up of factory trials. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of product development activities to key stakeholders. Work with QA on developing systems to maintain food product standards, identify/resolve issues when one occurs. Work cross functionally to assist in any ingredient/formulation adjustment or process change as well as product ingredient and formula optimization. Research and gain thorough understanding and knowledge on emerging technologies in product and ingredient technologies. REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Culinary, or related field. 5-7 years of Food Product Development. Experience in high growth CPG (food) environment. Sound working knowledge of food industry principles, GMP, HACCP, food safety, sanitary practices, and regulations. Experience operating typical laboratory food processing equipment and instruments used in product development, with high level of quality, accuracy, and quantity of analysis work. Proficient understanding of physical properties and chemical composition of food and ingredients. Displays outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills with high comfort in presenting in front of leadership team to provide data driven facts in a compelling and concise manner. High ethical standards and attention to compliance risks. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

7+ years in Food Product Development. Experience in launching multiple successful products from Bench to Commercialized state. Working understanding of different methods and styles of equipment, packaging and processing (aseptic, UHT, Hot / cold Pasteurization, MAP) as well as experience in finding and vetting copackers. Experience in Project Management - Plan, coordinate, communicate progress and challenges, execute project activities. Proficient ability to work with culinary or corporate chefs to translate the vision of the restaurant group into a commercially viable CPG product. What's in it for you?
