Job Title: Solar Panel Engineer – Electrical and Power Systems Location: Midland, Texas, United States 50% Hybrid About the Opportunity: Join a pioneering space technology organization developing advanced satellite systems designed to deliver high-speed connectivity anywhere on Earth. This company is leading innovation in next-generation deployable power systems and is seeking a Solar Panel Engineer to support the design, analysis, and testing of photovoltaic solutions for spacecraft applications. Key Responsibilities: Lead layout and design activities for photovoltaic solar arrays and associated electrical systems. Perform power generation, charging analysis, grounding, and ESD protection for deployable solar arrays. Design and model electrical schematics, harnessing, and circuit boards. Develop qualification test plans for photovoltaic and electrical components, including mechanical, thermal, and radiation testing. Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to optimize interconnect processes such as welding and bonding. Support test development, procedures, and tooling in coordination with test engineers. Work closely with systems engineering to validate de-rating and EEE parts lists. Generate documentation, reports, and presentations summarizing design and test results. Contribute to R&D efforts to improve solar technologies and manufacturing processes. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering or photovoltaic system development. At least 2 years of hands-on experience working on solar modules, solar cells, or deployable solar arrays. Experience providing engineering support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency with CAD and PLM systems. Skilled in technical data analysis and clear presentation of results. Familiarity with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with alternative space solar technologies, such as multi-junction or thin-film. Background in satellite power systems and understanding of LEO environmental impacts. Knowledge of statistical process control, lean principles, and cost modeling. Experience applying machine learning to degradation modeling is a plus. Proficiency in Python or other programming languages. Familiarity with Siemen’s NX and TeamCenter. Hands-on experience assembling and testing electronic components in environmental test conditions.
