Primarily responsible for administering all aspects of school operations related to student learning through high expectations for staff and students. Develops and evaluates the overall curriculum and instruction programs. Focuses on student success through culturally relevant curriculum, instructional programs, professional development, student proficiency, and progress towards on-time high school graduation. The Director collaborates with building principals on supervising teachers and instructional/support staff.
Provides positive, culturally appropriate leadership to create a school environment conducive to teaching and learning, aligning with the school’s mission and addressing the needs of students, staff, and the community.
Develops, implements, and actively participates in academic programs, working closely with principals and staff to improve instruction and student outcomes, ensuring curriculum aligns with state standards and incorporates indigenous culture.
Participates in learning about Muckleshoot culture, language, and traditions to effectively lead and integrate these elements into the curriculum, and develops school improvement initiatives.
Gathers and interprets data for reports and makes recommendations to the Chief School Administrator.
Promotes student success by acting with integrity and fairness, collaborating with families and community members.
Supervises and evaluates building principals, teachers, and support staff; mentors staff; provides performance feedback; and manages personnel actions as directed.
Assists in developing school goals and strategic plans; coordinates activities with other divisions and agencies.
Supports budget development and ensures programs are operated within budget constraints.
Develops, monitors, and evaluates school programs, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with educational goals.
Maintains effective communication with the community, parents, students, and the public regarding school programs and services.
Establishes work procedures, schedules, and standards to improve operational efficiency.
Attends meetings, workshops, and conferences related to the role.
Performs other duties as required, supporting the Tribe’s community service mission.
Qualifications include a Washington State Administrator (Principal) certificate and five years of school administration experience, including three years in mid-management and supervisory roles, with expertise in curriculum, education management, law, and best practices.
Physical requirements include the ability to sit, talk, hear, walk, operate equipment, and lift up to 25 pounds. A valid Washington State Teaching and Administrator (Principal) certificate are required upon hire.
