Job Summary
The Executive Director for Academic Tech, Innovation, and Research Computing supports the Institute's strategic focus on research and academic technologies. This role involves partnering with research and academic entities, leading IT strategy to achieve research, teaching, learning, and innovation goals. Responsibilities include establishing goals, resource planning, performance assessment, and supervising staff. The position interacts regularly with staff, researchers, faculty, and students.
Responsibilities
Formulate technical strategy
aligned with the Institute's needs, emphasizing forward-looking technology impacts on research funding and institutional finances. Develop long-range visions
and strategic programs for research, digital learning, and enterprise innovation, focusing on cyber-infrastructure. Create and oversee
the Enterprise Innovation Center. Enhance reputation
of Georgia Tech regionally and nationally among academia, government, and industry at relevant events. Support program reviews
with the department vice president for funded projects and strategic research development. Present research
and strategic technical overviews at professional meetings. Identify integration opportunities
across technology, research, and academic initiatives. Lead technology teams
and stay current with technological advancements. Act as liaison
between enterprise IT and Georgia Tech researchers and faculty. Perform other duties
as assigned. Qualifications Educational : Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience : 10+ years in related roles; PhD and 15+ years preferred, especially with R-1 academic experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge:
Expertise in research cyber infrastructure, managing complex IT research projects, understanding cyber missions. Skills:
Leadership, communication, collaboration, project management, business analysis, resource management, technology strategy, operational efficiency, and excellent communication skills.
