The Manager, U.S. Trade programs is a critical compliance role that actively partners across the enterprise (Operations, R&D, & Commercial) and oversees the U.S. /PR operational trade programs, including oversight of AbbVie Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) and other special trade programs. This position provides leadership for the usage of special trade programs and will lead a team of 3-4 individuals in the US/PR in the execution of these responsibilities.
By leveraging their expertise and collaborating with various business areas, the Manager, U.S. Trade programs helps optimize trade compliance operations, enhance decision-making, and mitigate risks. Their contributions are instrumental in shaping the future of our trade compliance function and supporting AbbVie's mission to improve the lives of individuals worldwide.
Responsibilities
Exemplifies AbbVie leadership principles and provide innovative, strategic, and evidence-based support to lead and create opportunities for optimization and cost reduction. Management of a trade compliance team in the U.S./PR (3-4 people) that drives operational and compliance excellence Advises and supports the business on import and export compliance matters, regulatory and legislative changes, providing strategic and tactical leadership Develops and drives solutions/strategies to issues faced by the businesses and the necessary controls around any change. Drives operational process excellence and foster a culture of continuous improvement in GTC of innovation, efficiency and compliance Establishes and maintains relationships with internal functions to encourage awareness of global trade compliance issues. Analyzes the feasibility of trade optimization opportunities including conducting cost-benefit analyses that consider resources, outsourcing strategies and capability requirements. Partners with internal GTC teams and cross functional partners to execute complex projects and initiatives for U.S/PR trade operations. Exemplifies AbbVie leadership principles and provide innovative, strategic, and evidence-based support to lead and create opportunities for innovation. Identifying the most impactful ideas and plans, and focus efforts to align well with functional priorities.

Qualifications
List required and preferred qualifications (up to 10). Include education, skills and experience.
Proficient in English University degree or background in a related field (e.g., business administration, economics, information technology, engineering, supply chain, logistics, computer science, data science). Master's degree preferred. 7+ years of experience strategy, technology management, or related field, with a proven track record of success in leading strategic initiative Understanding of global trade compliance regulations, processes, and best practices, with a keen interest in leveraging technology to address compliance challenges. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Analytical mindset with the ability to generate insights from data and drive data-driven decision-making.
