Job description: GENERAL JOB INFORMATION Under limited guidance, organizes, tracks, and champions the design and development of assigned products. Using advanced knowledge of the products, project management, and best practices, manages multiple complex, higher risk projects to ensure that new products are completed to established specifications, scheduling, and cost requirements. Key Responsibilities Serves as a resource to less experienced program managers, providing guidance on best practices, problem resolution, and mentorship as needed. Reviews project plans and proposals, collaborates with management to develop project objectives, and defines project responsibilities and phases. Determines project schedules and timelines by studying plans, calculating time requirements, and sequencing tasks. Partners with marketing to determine requirements for new products or platforms. Collaborates with engineering to allocate technical resources and manages outside technical resources when needed. Controls and monitors project plans, reviews changes, and recommends actions to improve outcomes. Manages budget and costs. Advocates for the design team, identifies and clears potential roadblocks. Addresses manufacturing, operations, and purchasing issues to ensure project success. Identifies technological and design issues, facilitating resolution and decision-making. Tracks project milestones and documentation, and communicates with stakeholders. Prepares status reports and recommends actions for project improvement. Establishes testing plans and success criteria, and coordinates product transfer to production. Conducts training for customer service on new products. Evaluates project success and drives process improvements. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Required Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of experience managing engineering projects, objectives, costs, timelines, and resources. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced technical knowledge and design experience in core technologies. Strong project management skills for leading cross-functional, high-risk projects. Ability to give guidance, work collaboratively, and manage shifting priorities. Proactive problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills for developing documents and working with teams.
