Our Carbon Neutrality & Regulatory Affairs Division seeks a passionate and highly motivated
Regulatory Implementation Principal Engineer – Core Products . This role primarily oversees Toyota’s regulatory and certification infrastructure for TMNA’s automotive on-road products in North America. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Core Products Regulatory Implementation, you will support the department’s goal to ensure regulatory expertise, compliance validation, and certification of TMNA’s core on-road passenger vehicles and trucks in North America. What you’ll be doing Developing detailed project compliance and certification schedules, coordinating with project management, design, and product planning to meet North American destination objectives within project timelines. Serving as a Toyota regulatory SME, especially for Federal & Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (F(C)MVSS), advising internal stakeholders. Coordinating regulatory interpretations for applicable products as requested by R&D. Collaborating with Vehicle Development Engineering (VDE) to advise on regulatory scope, processes, and challenges for core products. Utilizing Toyota tools to support VDE with compliance assurance and certification processes. Aligning compliance and certification milestones with product development schedules through collaboration with Program Managers. Leading regular technical and regulatory meetings to ensure milestones and deliverables are met. Developing and maintaining operating procedures and work instructions for regulatory processes. Coordinating with TMNA R&D, Legal, Quality, and TMC Regulation & Certification Division, emphasizing excellent communication and negotiation skills. What you bring Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. 10+ years of related experience, including at least 5 years in crash safety. Proven knowledge of automotive on-road product regulations, especially Light-Duty vehicles or FMVSS. 5+ years of project management experience, including process development and documentation. Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal skills for representing the division internally and externally. Preferred qualifications Experience coaching or mentoring engineers. Experience with FMVSS testing or evaluation. Master’s degree in Engineering or related field. Bilingual skills.
