Full-time Exempt Position
This is a remote position with required quarterly travel to support location staff. Approximately 10% of travel each quarter.
Your Role as Purchasing Director:
As the Purchasing Director at Midwest Shooting Center, you will lead our inventory acquisition strategy across all retail locations. You will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, developing long-term purchasing strategies, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and driving pricing and margin strategies in line with our Market Domination Strategy. This position is essential in maintaining operational excellence and supporting company-wide growth initiatives.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Lead and execute long-term, system-wide purchasing strategy. Manage supplier relationships, including negotiation of pricing, credit, and shipping terms. Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels across all stores. Coordinate with Inventory Compliance Managers on vendor program deployment. Develop and implement pricing strategies to meet margin and sales objectives. Collaborate with Marketing to align promotional efforts with buying strategy. Prune baseline SKU assortment and identify new market opportunities. Monitor and adjust min/max ordering thresholds for staple seasonal products. Ensure purchasing support for GearFire orders and integrations. Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies. Conduct well-organized and productive purchasing meetings. Maintain a structured daily agenda to maximize operational efficiency. Escalate supply chain issues effectively and promptly. Represent Midwest Shooting Center professionally in all vendor and supplier interactions.

Compliance & Budget Adherence: Maintain vendor terms, meet margin targets, and support ATF and OSHA compliance. Performance: Consistently track and improve key purchasing metrics, including inventory turnover and product availability.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and purchasing platforms. Self-starter with the ability to work cross-functionally.
