Intermediate Transit Architectural Designer

Key responsibilities include working with and coordinating an
architectural/engineering
team to prepare documents for transportation-focused projects. The ideal candidate will perform initial and detailed design phases, collaborating with various disciplines, clients, and consultants. Responsibilities also include preparing architectural plans, supervising their execution, analyzing design and construction systems, conducting planning studies, and overseeing research for specifications. Site and construction inspections, code analysis, material selection, and technical problem-solving are also essential.
Required Experience:
Professional Degree in Architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch preferred)
Minimum of 12 years of experience as a project architect in the rail/transit sector
Transit architecture design experience, including station and related facilities
Registered Licensed Architect in New York (preferred)
Experience in the transportation sector
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with OpenBuildings, Rhino, 3D Max, SketchUp, LEED accreditation (plus)
Excellent design, technical detailing, and presentation skills
Self-starter with problem-solving skills, teamwork mindset, and client focus
Essential Duties:
Determine technical approach and design criteria with multiple disciplines
Lead and coach architectural staff
Conduct investigations, studies, and analysis
Develop design details, plans, and specifications
Serve as quality control reviewer
Use computer software to solve complex architectural problems
Contribute innovative designs and techniques
Stay current with codes and technologies (e.g., IBC, NFPA)
Ensure standards, codes, and technical adequacy
Review shop drawings and RFIs
Compensation Range: $114,544.55 - $152,726.06
