TriMet
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing estimates, budgets, and independent cost estimates for complex, medium to high-risk capital projects as part of a ~$250M annual capital project portfolio for the Engineering, Construction, and Planning Division. Conduct bid reviews and other cost estimating work to support the project portfolio from design through construction with limited or no supervision. Mentor and train less-experienced staff, with support from the Manager of Cost Estimating and Value Engineering. Participate in special project work teams.
Ensure a commitment to safety through consistent and professional behaviors that demonstrate safety as a fundamental value guiding all aspects of work. Perform related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare budgetary project cost estimates for complex, medium to high-risk, and conceptual projects, supporting development and funding requests, using quantity takeoffs, unit costs, or other means. Analyze cost risks, assist in value engineering, and consider funding sources and schedule risks. Prepare independent cost estimates for large change orders during active construction, review scope with project staff, reconcile estimates, visit sites, and represent TriMet in negotiations. Develop cost estimates for new and existing projects to support system repairs and expansions, updating estimates at each phase, and ensuring alignment with schedules. Review contractor bid pricing for fairness, stay current on cost trends, and maintain costing databases. Estimate costs for professional service contracts and intergovernmental agreements based on scope narratives. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred). Minimum of four (4) years of experience in quantity take-offs, construction cost estimates, and reconciling with contractor costs. Two (2) years of experience in developing conceptual cost estimates for complex projects. One (1) year of construction field experience (preferred). Certifications such as AEP, CPE, CCT, or CEP are preferred. Additional Details
