Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer and Architect - Windows, Linux, Virtualization, Cloud, Storage & Network Experience Level:

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Infrastructure Systems Engineer to manage, optimize, and evolve our global enterprise IT infrastructure. This role involves day-to-day operations, incident response, infrastructure design & architecture, and continuous improvement — with a strong focus on automation and efficiency.
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical skills across Windows and Linux platforms, VMware virtualization, enterprise storage, networking, across both on-prem and public cloud environments. In addition to supporting and enhancing the current environment, the candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing future-ready solutions and engaging with business and IT stakeholders to meet evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-Day Infrastructure Operations
Manage key areas of day-to-day operations across a hybrid infrastructure stack including Windows, Linux, VMware, storage, networking, and cloud.
Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure high availability and performance of systems.
Serve as the primary technical liaison between infrastructure teams, development teams, and operations.
Tackle complex tactical issues related to system performance, reliability, and integration across infrastructure layers.
Take ownership of troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure-related incidents, working closely with teams to address root causes and implement long-term fixes.
Lead efforts to optimize infrastructure performance and resolve operational challenges quickly to minimize downtime and impact.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technical team members by sharing best practices, architectural patterns, and knowledge from past projects.
Monitor infrastructure metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements based on operational data.
Evaluate the existing infrastructure architecture and build and execute improvement roadmap.
Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, tools, and solutions aligned with enterprise needs.
Support hybrid cloud strategies, cloud adoption/migration efforts, and platform modernization initiatives.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and infrastructure best practices to optimize internal IT environments.
Introduce innovative approaches to streamline infrastructure operations and solve recurring technical challenges.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure designs, implementation processes, and operational procedures.
Deploy, configure, and maintain workloads in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Manage private cloud infrastructure (e.g., VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX) including automation, scaling, and monitoring.
Work with cloud networking, storage, backup, and security controls as part of daily operations and architectural planning.
Identify repetitive tasks and develop scripts/automation solutions (e.g., using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to manage and provision cloud and virtual environments.
Continuously improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency through smart tooling and automation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
Collaborate with IT operations, DevOps, application, security, and business teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
Translate business needs into technical requirements, providing clear documentation and implementation guidance.
Work across global, distributed teams to ensure alignment and consistency of infrastructure services.
Participate in and lead infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, and new technology deployments.
Support digital transformation and cloud adoption initiatives with technical maturity and solution focus.
Ensure change management and documentation standards are followed throughout project delivery.
Key technical Skills (Strong Hands-on Experience Required):
Operating Systems: Deep experience with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
Understanding of directory services and integrations.
Virtualization: Expertise in VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, HA, etc.
Strong understanding of hyperconverged systems.
Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms AWS, Azure.
Storage: Strong knowledge of SAN/NAS platforms (Dell EMC, HPE, etc.).
Experience working on enterprise backup and DR systems (e.g., Commvault).
Networking: Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routing, and cloud networking constructs (VPCs, subnets, gateways).
Automation: Proficiency in scripting and tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform.
Monitoring & Tools: Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Zabbix, Prometheus).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Min of 15+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure.
Work experience across automotive domain preferred.
Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure in both on-prem and public cloud environments.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
Ability to lead initiatives independently and collaborate effectively in a global, distributed team environment.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Must have strong understanding of working with global and distributed teams, ability to work under pressure and manage demands with competing priorities.
