Controls Development Triage Engineer – Subject Matter Expert, Engine Control Product Release Center, PMBD Platform Job Description: The Subject Matter Expert in Controls Development Triage plays a critical role within the Engine Control Product Release Center (PRC). This expert collaborates with the Controls Center of Excellence (COE) Manager, Controls Developers, Calibration, Advanced, and Production Requirements teams to ensure all requirements are delivered with the highest quality to meet program objectives. The role provides technical leadership to PRC controls developers, guiding proper implementation of requirements, controls assessments, and prototype design. Leads training initiatives in all aspects of engine control development. Participates in issue investigations and resolution planning. Responsibilities: Interpret high-level requirements related to vehicle-level behavior. Design control algorithms that meet functional objectives. Implement control algorithms in MATLAB-Simulink, C, etc. Provide calibration datasets based on best guesses. Pre-verify implementation and requirements compliance via Model In The Loop (MIL) testing. Verify generated code through Software in the Loop (SIL) testing or tools monitoring software resource consumption. Manage integrated proto code builds. Verify official and proto code builds in HIL labs or vehicles using ETAS INCA tools. Analyze and respond to tracked issues. Attend technical meetings, analyze data, and resolve issues. Develop process documentation. Support calibration and application communities. Fundamental Knowledge Pillars: Modern and classical control principles. Major vehicle systems. Domain knowledge in engine design, control, calibration, diagnostics, and safety. Embedded control development tools and processes. Support issue triage, root cause analysis, and team assignments. Perform controls assessments on COE content. Manage COE input to prototype software development. Review and approve propulsion artifacts and team-created artifacts. Manage projects focused on control artifact quality. Requirements: Extensive experience in engine control and data analysis. At least 15+ years of related experience. Understanding of system requirements engineering and controls design. Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. Advanced degree in mechanical, automotive, or computer engineering. Experience decomposing functions into control documents. Deep knowledge of MATLAB, SIMULINK, and AUTOSAR architecture. Traits: action-oriented, adaptable to ambiguity, customer-focused, problem solver. Education: Bachelor’s degree in applied physics, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or computer engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent.
