Your Role
As part of the Design Technology team, the role of a Regional Design Technology Lead of Computational Platforms focuses on research, development, and strategic implementation of computational and generative design across the Northwest region. This role will advance the region’s computational thinking and application throughout all phases of design projects. In partnership with NW Regional Design Technology leadership, you will determine the strategy and roadmap for the advancement of our regional digital design practices. We are seeking experienced design professionals with deep knowledge of the entire design and construction process, as well as a curiosity for innovation to join our regional team.
What You Will Do
Foster and grow the Computational Design community across the Northwest Region with a focus on connectivity and excellence. Integrate computational thinking as part of design storytelling for our design teams.
Establish cross-platform integration and interoperability from concept to delivery: Digital Fluency.
Partner with regional leadership to develop the regional strategy for computational design.
Author and develop custom computational/generative design solutions for project teams during any required phase of the design process.
Document case studies to demonstrate the value of computational design.
Develop computational design tools for spatial analytics and generative design.
Identify, research, recommend, and implement intelligent automation practices.
Research and develop responsible ways to integrate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into computational design processes.
Present sophisticated concepts and solutions to non-technical audiences through storytelling, visual communication, and data-driven insights.
Promote, expand, and champion the use of Gensler’s proprietary computational platforms within design teams.
Lead formal and informal training for team members.
Your Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical training or prior work experience in the building industry.
10+ years of experience with whole-project solutions that combine computational design and BIM deliverables.
Experience in leading/supporting Design Technology and innovative frameworks/workflows in project delivery.
Expertise in computational and parametric design platforms: Rhino.Inside, Dynamo, Grasshopper, others.
Knowledge in Visual and Object-Oriented Programming, such as Python, VB.NET, Java, C#, C++.
Knowledge in data visualization platforms such as Power BI is beneficial.
Experience with Revit API, web development, or comparable software development is highly regarded.
Proficiency in design tools, such as Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, 3ds Max.
Ability to exercise judgment, set priorities, and manage competing demands.
Demonstrated ability to develop learning materials, deliver effective training, and provide ongoing education and support to project teams.
Strong communication skills, able to convey design technology concepts to all levels of leadership.
Punctuality, adherence to deadlines, and a strong work ethic.
Creative problem solver with a focus on research and innovation.
**Note:** If the position is located in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Jose, CA, the base salary will be estimated between $130,000 - $150,000 annually plus bonuses and benefits, contingent on relevant experience. For Seattle, WA, the range is $110,500 - $127,000. For other locations, salary will be based on local market standards.
