Director - Supply Chain, Operations and Engineering Search

We are seeking a Manager for their Advanced Processing Department within the Technology & Innovation Function. This role involves leading a team of highly skilled professionals, including Scientists, Chemists, Chemical Engineers, and Laboratory Technicians. You will oversee and drive research projects across various stages of technological maturity, focusing on process innovation and efficiency enhancements. Additionally, you will manage their Advanced Processing Laboratory including leaching and hot chlorination research infrastructure, ensuring optimal operation and effectiveness. Further responsibilities include making informed decisions regarding technology design, laboratory and pilot equipment selection, and pilot technology implementation. Collaborating cross-functionally to define project objectives and ensure successful project completion. Manage the day-to-day resources, equipment, and manpower to achieve the best practical throughput of test work and ensure valid, accurate results are produced in line with the laboratory handbook. Ensure adherence to the Safety standards and housekeeping 5S procedures Drive innovation and improvements in advanced processing techniques and technologies. Develop, test, and optimize advanced processing methods to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of R&D projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, timeline, and budget. Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure seamless integration and implementation of advanced processing solutions. Make informed decisions on process design, equipment selection, and technology implementation People Management Motivate and evaluate the team members to enhance team collaboration and support their individual development and growth. Liaise with HR and internal customers to coordinate staff welfare, team working and legislative issues. Technical Capabilities Good understanding and mid- to senior-level experience of mineral processing industry, especially chemical and/or thermal processing of minerals e.g. gold, Copper, Zinc etc. In depth knowledge of majority of analytical techniques and methodologies relevant to mineral and chemical industries such as ICP, XRF, XRD, SEM, statistical analysis of data, surface functional groups etc. Educational Background and Prior Professional Experience At least Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or Master’s degree in Materials Science, or Master’s in Chemistry or related field. PhD is a plus. At least 10 years of people/project/lab management experience in mining, minerals or chemicals industry Seniority level
