Due to continued growth, our Grid Group is seeking an experienced Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) Lead Electrical Engineer. This position offers the opportunity to work in a project team environment with engineers and designers involved in detailed electrical design and project management of distribution and transmission substation projects. The role functions as a Subject Matter Expert for Gas Insulated Substation projects. Active participation in industry code and standards committees/associations like IEEE or CIGRE is expected. As a Lead GIS Engineer, you will be involved in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution, including selecting air insulated substation projects. You will handle challenging assignments involving investigating, troubleshooting, and solving electrical engineering and design issues. Responsibilities include preparing specifications, reports, and supporting project deliverables such as Technical Specifications, General Arrangement, Equipment Plans, Foundation Plans, Grounding and Conduit Plans, Equipment Connection Details, and Control Panel Plans. You will guide and mentor junior and senior engineers and designers, coordinating detailed design phases across all engineering aspects. Opportunities for peer-learning and sharing knowledge through S&L’s systems and Communities of Practice are available. Travel to client sites may be required as needed. This position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work 3 days per week. Qualifications

Essential skills and experience: A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited electrical engineering program. 10+ years of experience in the physical layout and design of Gas Insulated and Air Insulated Substations. Knowledge of physical design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and 3D models. Understanding of engineering science and technology, including equipment relation to technical design. Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Experience reviewing design drawings created by others. Proficiency with MS Office applications. Valued but not required skills and experience: Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Familiarity with Bentley Substation, BlueBeam, AutoCAD E, or SDS design software. Ability to perform grounding calculations, direct stroke shielding, battery & charger sizing, etc. Experience with Transmission Line and protection & controls. Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards related to physical substation design, including the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI C2). FE or PE license. #INDEEDSL Award-Winning Benefits
