Sr. Principal Algorithm Engineer - Medical Device OEM
Join a pioneering med tech company seeking a Lead Algorithm Engineer to drive the development of embedded control algorithms for life-saving medical devices. This is a unique opportunity to lead a talented team, shape high-quality clinical software, and contribute to meaningful innovations in healthcare. This is a hybrid position located in the NW suburbs of Minneapolis.
What You'll Do
Lead and mentor algorithm engineers in development best practices and process improvements
Oversee algorithm development activities, ensuring compliance with medical device requirements
Estimate development efforts and manage release schedules while updating project teams on progress, status, and risks
Design, implement, and test algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow for embedded devices
Participate in architectural, design, and requirements discussions
Support documentation, risk analysis, and training aligned with regulatory standards
Provide product support input on IT hardware and development tools
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master's or Specialization in control algorithm engineering preferred)
10+ years of experience in algorithm development, architecture, controls design, models, code, simulations, and testing using system artifacts (models, requirements, interface specifications), preferably in regulated industries (medical, aerospace, automotive)
5+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow with embedded code generation
3+ years of technical leadership experience in cross-functional engineering environments
Strong skills in embedded control algorithm design and C++/C development
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities
A proactive, continuous improvement mindset
Willingness to occasionally travel internationally (
