Job Title: Senior Middle Market Underwriter
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Middle Market Underwriter . The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of underwriting principles. The Middle Market Underwriter will play a crucial role in evaluating and assessing risks associated with middle-market insurance policies, ensuring profitability and compliance with company guidelines.
Compensation and Benefits
$140,000 to $180,000+ per year total compensation (based on experience)

Responsibilities
Underwrite new and renewal middle market commercial accounts across assigned lines of business (Property, Casualty, Package, etc.).
Analyze risk characteristics and determine acceptability, pricing, and coverage options.
Collaborate with brokers and agents to negotiate terms, build relationships, and develop profitable business opportunities.
Maintain a profitable book of business in accordance with company guidelines and underwriting authority.
Identify cross-sell and account rounding opportunities within existing accounts.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters or underwriting assistants as needed.
Monitor industry trends and contribute to underwriting strategy and product development.
Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, regulations, and file documentation standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum 3–5 years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on middle market risks.
Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, coverage forms, rating methodologies, and market dynamics.
Experience with broker distribution in the regional or national market.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage a high-volume workflow while maintaining attention to detail.
Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or ARM are a plus.
