Kubota is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to focus on our regional and global telematics systems. The SRE will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, performance, and scalability of our Azure-hosted telematics systems.
This role blends software engineering, infrastructure operations, and system administration, with a strong focus on observability, IaC, CI/CD pipelines and system architecture.
PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES Design, implement, and maintain highly available and resilient systems in Microsoft Azure. Monitor system performance and availability using tools like Azure Hosted Grafana, APMs, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitLab CI and Github Actions. Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, or Bicep. Collaborate with development, IT and security teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of services. Perform root cause analysis and post-incident retrospectives to improve system reliability and incident response. Automate operational tasks such as deployments, patching, and scaling. Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and operational standards. Participate in on-call rotations and incident management Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and agile ceremonies. Additional duties as assigned by management MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Certifications, & Training: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
Strong experience operating and monitoring application database technologies such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL. Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, Storage, Networking, etc (or AWS equivalents). Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash). Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Bicep. Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.). Strong knowledge of observability in cloud environments (Traces, Logs and Metrics). Experience with containers and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Skills & Background: Experience with time series database technologies such as Azure Data Explorer, Clickhouse or Timescale. Experience open telemetry and distributed tracing. Experience operating large scale IoT systems. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar certifications. Experience with zero-downtime deployments, blue-green or canary deployments. Familiarity with chaos engineering and resilience testing tools. Knowledge of ITIL processes, especially around incident, change, and problem management. Solid experience with Node.js and frameworks such as Nest.js. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git). Understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
