Advisor Services Technology (AST) exists to support the premier digital custodial platform for independent RIA firms by creating purposeful, efficient, and delightful experiences for our Advisors, Participants, Fintech Partners, and End-Clients, enabling simplified and intuitive technical solutions for their operational needs. In Advisor Services Technology (AST), this team directly supports Advisor Trading Technology (ATT) Software Development for Schwab Trading Services, such as the iRebal web application, REST/SOAP services, databases, and various integrations. We are looking for a highly talented Senior Lead SDET (Lead Software Development Engineer in Testing) with leadership experience and excellent communication skills to join our team. You will be building UI, middle tier, API, SQL, and backend applications. Ideal candidates share a passion for technology, innovation, excellence, and enjoy dynamic, fast-moving, and agile work environments. Top candidates will thrive under ambiguity and embrace change passionately. We operate in a Test-Driven Development and Continuous Integration environment using Bamboo and Bitbucket, moving to GitHub and Harness soon. In this role, you will work alongside seasoned engineers to maintain all aspects of the software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software releases. Perform thorough design reviews and code reviews for test frameworks and automation. Provide technical direction and support to your team. Lead design and implementation of new stories and bug fixes, improving test frameworks and coverage. Develop tools and practices to increase team efficiency. Mature the team’s quality software practices and implement industry-standard best practices. Mentor junior staff and help them reach their career goals. Collaborate with SDETs, developers, product owners, technical leads, and architects. Be a core member of a scrum team including developers, QA/SDET engineers, product owners, architects, and other roles. Required Qualifications 15+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Engineering 10+ years of hands-on experience automating build and release certification tasks as part of DevOps practices 14+ years of hands-on testing experience in Business Process Management workflows 12+ years of experience in manual and automation QA practices (black box testing, risk-based testing, system testing, regression testing, exploratory testing) 14+ years of experience developing and implementing applications and/or test automation scripts, especially for web applications Proficiency with test automation tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, Gherkin, Rest Assured, IntelliJ, VS Code, SourceTree, Sauce Labs, GitHub 8+ years of experience in Front End Technologies: JSP/Java, Angular, JSON/XML, services 8+ years in Back End Technologies: Java, J2EE, RESTful API, Microservices, Event-driven architecture 12+ years in Database Technologies: SQL, Oracle, Postgres, stored procedures 12+ years in complex logic testing with varied data sets Experience with Distributed Monolithic and Cloud-based Microservices Passion for enterprise-level agile development, automation, innovation, and lifelong learning Preferred Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience testing start/end of day jobs, rule-based engine validation Understanding of web app environments, development tools, event-driven applications, security, performance tuning, debugging Familiarity with CI/CD, unit testing, API automation, deployment pipelines Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry/PCF Strong time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills Problem-solving skills and ability to simplify complex ideas Ability to work under pressure in a scaled agile environment Leadership in cross-organizational, geographically dispersed teams Industry experience in Stock Market/Brokerage (preferred) What’s in it for you At Schwab, we’re committed to empowering our employees’ personal and professional success.
