Position Overview DRMP

is seeking a dynamic

Structures Chief Engineer

to work on impactful transportation and bridge projects across Florida. As a Structures Chief Engineer, you'll lead complex designs, mentor junior staff, and serve as a technical expert across a wide range of structural systems and delivery methods. If you bring deep bridge design experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as Structures Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead on multi-disciplined transportation projects using both conventional and alternative delivery methods.

Serve as Technical Structures Design Lead for all aspects of bridge design and plans preparation.

Direct engineering alternatives investigations through data collection, analysis, calculations, and evaluation of solutions.

Oversee planning, design, and production of structural calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications for bridge and transportation structures.

Perform technical reviews (QA/QC) of structural calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.

Lead marketing efforts for bridge project pursuits, including FDOT Letters of Response, Presentations, and Technical Interviews.

Support construction phase activities, including RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and problem solving.

Train and mentor junior engineers.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE).

15+ years of post-registration structural engineering experience.

20+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience.

Proficiency with bridge design software (e.g., FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge, LARSA, STAAD, Microstation, AutoCAD).

Experience with structural/bridge design standards and specifications.

Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.

PE/SE certification in Florida or ability to obtain it.

Experience with FDOT structures manual and construction specifications.
