Ready to elevate your engineering experience on complex Rail Systems construction projects? We’ve worked with nearly every heavy rail transit authority in North America and currently hold contracts with WMATA, NYCT, PANYNJ, Sound Transit, TTC, BART, SFRTA, MARTA, NJT, DART, MDTPW, and LACMTA. Over the past 20 years, we have completed or are working on 23 major railroad and transit design-build projects. We seek your skills in the Northeast and across North America.

Position: Parsons is seeking a Senior Traction Power Engineer in the Boston/New England area. The selected candidate will support senior engineers in specifying and designing DC traction power and distribution systems, including:

Interface with civil disciplines for site plans, duct banks, and ground grids.

Collaborate with systems and vehicle engineering for traction power system design.

Travel to supplier, client, or construction sites as needed.

Responsibilities:

Work with the traction power team on major projects.

Lead design efforts for Traction Power Substations.

Develop and modify specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, and schedules.

Assist in technical consultations and analyses.

Ensure design compliance with codes and regulations.

Prepare specifications and purchase requisitions; review supplier data; witness tests; assess manufacturing capabilities.

Develop operation and maintenance plans.

Conduct surveys and site investigations.

Support power studies such as load flow and short circuit analyses.

Build client relationships to expand business.

Contribute to proposals for the New England area.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of related experience; advanced degrees preferred.

PE (Professional Engineer) license required.

Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools.

Experience with DC Traction Power design, transformer substations, motor control centers, and UPS systems.

Experience reviewing shop drawings and design submittals.

Ability to develop and execute testing procedures.

Experience inspecting electrical systems on railway infrastructure; MBTA experience highly preferred.

Salary Range: $100,900 - $176,600
