In this role, you will be a subject matter expert leading the second line of defense oversight of the Model Risk Management (MRM) program, including independent completion of model validations and preparing monthly MRM risk reports for credit risk, treasury management (ALM), and underwriting models. You will oversee internal model owners and users' compliance with model risk management policies, ensuring model inventory accuracy, documentation, performance results, and other key MRM requirements.
Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert for MRM, leading the execution of the model validation strategy, including review and validation of credit, market, operational risk, loss forecasting, stress testing, ALM, AML, fraud, pricing analytics, and CECL models. Independently complete model validations that are accurate, complete, and compliant with policies, standards, and procedures. Visualize abstract concepts, understand relationships, and draw constructive conclusions. Create, develop, and implement the internal model validation framework, including validation and reporting templates. Deliver strategic insights and actionable recommendations on model risk to MRM and leadership, supporting organizational growth and maturity. Develop validation approaches, incorporate them into model risk practices, and stay updated on emerging modeling techniques and regulatory expectations. Oversee third-party model validation work, review validation processes, assess findings, and provide feedback for quality improvement. Review and assess model performance results to ensure appropriate risk levels and evaluate third-party validation reports. Present validation results and findings to management and develop formal action plans. Manage conflicts, identify common ground, and resolve issues effectively while maintaining confidentiality and discretion. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field - minimum requirement. Graduate Degree in Data Science, Predictive Analytics, or Machine Learning - preferred. Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience building, testing, implementing, and validating complex models used in the financial services industry. In Lieu of Education: 15 years of relevant experience in building, testing, implementing, and validating complex financial models. Compensation & Benefits: Typical hiring range: $113,000 - $159,550 annually. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, and knowledge. Additional compensation includes an annual performance bonus.
