We are seeking a Controller based in San Francisco, CA, with significant experience in the life sciences industry to join our U.S. Managed Accounting Services team. The Controller will be responsible for assisting clients with monthly book closings, revenue recognition, cost accounting analysis, maintaining financial records, internal budgets, and reviewing team work. This management-level role involves leading the monthly closure of multiple client books, focusing on the life sciences industry, reporting to the Director of Managed Accounting Services, and supporting a team of accountants globally. Each Controller manages 15-25 clients based on workload and size. Responsibilities
Client-facing role involving business development, relationship building, and ensuring high-quality client work. Supporting clients with various revenue streams such as product sales, licensing, software, services, and royalties. Collaborate with client teams to establish sound business models, proper revenue recognition, transaction accuracy, and disclosures. Managing and executing full cycle accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and complex accounting issues for multiple clients. Developing detailed close schedules, managing project deadlines, and collaborating with teams on technical questions and project progress. Reviewing client financial performance monthly, providing improvement recommendations, and ensuring GAAP compliance with revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity, and leases. Supporting mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration activities. Ensuring compliance with firm policies and procedures. Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. CPA license preferred. Previous experience as a Controller or similar role in the life sciences industry. Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP. Ability to learn multiple accounting systems and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Advanced MS Excel skills. Excellent organizational, communication, and professionalism skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Eligible to work in the U.S. Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $180,000, depending on skills, experience, and other factors. Benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), pension, and more to support your health and well-being. Additional Details
