Care, LPN at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a key role in supporting our staff psychiatrist in prescribing, administering, and monitoring medications for clients. Your responsibilities will include conducting routine physical and mental health nursing assessments to ensure that each individual receives the appropriate treatment and medication support.You'll provide supportive counseling, monitor medical needs, and, when necessary, administer methadone. You'll also conduct intake and follow-up interviews, complete physical assessments, perform drug and TB testing, and maintain detailed and accurate documentation. Your knowledge and attention to detail will help ensure the secure storage, handling, and disposal of medications, all while contributing to a safe, supportive, and high-quality care environment for our clients.Requirements for this Psych Care, LPN jobTo excel as a Full-Time Psychiatric Care LPN at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates must hold a current and valid Virginia State Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the Virginia State Board of Nursing. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in medication administration. Experience in substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, or long-term care settings, particularly involving the dispensing of narcotic medications, is essential for success in this role. A valid Virginia Driver's License is also required, enabling you to fulfill various job responsibilities effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be key, as you will provide supportive counseling to clients while conducting thorough assessments.
