Rare Condition Account Manager (RCAM)

to lead key relationships in the rare disease space, engaging with high-value HCPs, executives, and other key stakeholders within Top Centers of Excellence in the assigned Region. This individual will focus on demand generation within the Growth & Genetics portfolio, calling on Pediatric Endocrinologists, Genetists, Orthopedics, & Pediatrics, with demonstrated experience accessing and achieving goals in large health care systems. This role is critical to driving therapy adoption through education, patient reimbursement and support, and long-term value creation in complex therapeutic and healthcare system environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the dynamics specific to rare diseases, including limited patient populations, distribution networks, and evolving competitive landscapes. This is a field-based position covering the West Region (Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR). Key Responsibilities Responsible for demand generation within the Growth & Genetics product portfolio and develop expert product and disease state knowledge to engage in face-to-face clinical dialogue with healthcare professionals. Promote approved indications and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients. Develop and execute a territory business plan to achieve or exceed sales goals. Establish strategic relationships with key stakeholders in assigned centers of excellence & academic institutions, including physicians, administrative staff, nurses, care coordinators, and pharmacists, to drive adoption of Ascendis products. Lead cross-functional planning efforts to optimize access and adoption of rare disease therapies and identify referral networks within customer segments. Collaborate with internal teams (Patient Services, Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Market Access) to ensure goal alignment and execution. Provide field insights on emerging treatment trends, patient needs, and competitor activity to internal stakeholders. Stay current on rare disease market trends, policy developments (e.g., orphan drug policy), patient advocacy, and competitive activity. Experience launching or supporting ultra-rare disease products. Strong understanding of the specialty drug environment (rare/orphan diseases) to meet customers’ and patients’ needs. Ability to travel 70% and cover a large geographic area. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in strategic account management, market access, or health system sales in the rare disease, biotech, or specialty pharma sector. Proven ability to engage and influence high-level stakeholders in centers of excellence and academic institutions, impacting product access and revenue. Use of product knowledge to engage in customized, compliant, and ethical discussions. Track record of top performance. Strong knowledge of rare disease market dynamics, distribution, patient support, and reimbursement models. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Clinical and business acumen with ability to craft patient-focused solutions. Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and strategic planning frameworks. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with IDNs, PBMs, and specialty pharmacy operations. Success in managing a balanced product portfolio. The annual base salary ranges from $195,000 to $215,000, depending on qualifications, skills, and proficiency.
