In this role you have the opportunity to Analyze our current buying systems and create the best methods for day-to-day purchasing operations. Our Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing our Purchasing department, establishing Buyer goals based on the company's procurement objectives and sales projections for the coming year and setting career objectives for each member of the purchasing team. This individual evaluates and identifies suppliers, builds an effective preferred supplier strategy, manages the strategic relationships with suppliers, actively manages supplier performance, and delivers year-over-year cost savings. You are responsible for Manages and mentors a dynamic team of purchasing professionals Hire new buyers and purchasing agents and provide product-specific training to prepare new employees for their roles Manage the company’s day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing agents are meeting their personal performance standards Manage performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, purchase placement performance, buyer activity levels, cost reduction, supplier lead times and material shortage elimination Manage key supplier performance and report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance. Build and improve supplier relationships and conduct key supplier business reviews Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business Support product development commodity strategies in line with corporate initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management Work closely with engineering, quality, operations, and program management personnel to influence technical design decisions to meet expectations, technical capabilities, business objectives, and to assess current and future sourcing requirements Maintain expertise/knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements, and competitive landscape Conducts interviews with vendors, negotiating supplier agreements and managing supplier and vendor contracts as needed to support the critical business needs To succeed in this role you should have the following skills and capabilities Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Production/Operations Management, or Business or equivalent business experience 10+ years progressive experience in Purchasing & Sourcing with leadership experience in Aerospace & Defense, or Semiconductor or Electronic manufacturer Understanding of key procurement KPIs, operating systems and early warning systems Experience in sourcing and procurement of electronic components required. Expertise with various procurement systems, tools and productivity measures Strong contract & negotiation experience with the suppliers/vendors Negotiation and contracting skills Strong analytic skills in excel, PowerBI, a plus Additional Preferred Qualifications: Solid track record meeting substantial material cost reduction targets Preferred experience with Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) with respect to efficiency and effectiveness of spending government funds. Ability to coordinate business unit priorities involving cross functional efforts within the company to achieve objectives Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and to recommend improvements Demonstrated experience seeing through strategy, execution and delivery of measurable results Demonstrated the creative problem-solving capability Have strong experience to drive standardization and process improvement thru partnering with the peers and cross-functional teams Customer focused & results focused Project or Program management skills Functional knowledge of ERP (preferably Oracle) systems “This position requires you to access information that is subject to U.S. export regulations.
