The Opportunity
At USAFacts, we are committed to providing unbiased and transparent data about the United States. We are seeking a Technical Data Analyst to join our mission-driven team.
This Technical Data Analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data to ensure its accuracy and integrity. They will perform data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights, and implement procedures to ensure data quality. Data reporting and visualization are crucial for communicating data insights effectively. The Technical Data Analyst plays a vital role in supporting decision-making processes and facilitating the organization's effective and scalable use of data.
Key Priorities & Responsibilities
Analyze robust government data to reveal patterns, trends, and insights for publication on our flagship website product
Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring compatibility and comparability
Leverage AI models responsibly to assist and accelerate core work
Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate data insights
Develop and implement procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Identify data quality issues, resolve them where possible, and enforce governance best practices to comply with organizational requirements
Identify process bottlenecks and work with Product and/or Engineering Teams to resolve them. Solutions may include altering workflows, introducing automation, or integrating AI products
Assist in workstream automation via AI and other means to enable organizational scale and reduce manual interventions
Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills:
Bachelors degree, ideally in a field that includes data analysis
Experience with data projects in an educational or setting
Experience with SQL & Python required. PySpark is nice to have
Hands on experience with AI/ML tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar large models in analytical workflows
Experience integrating commercial AI tools into data analysis processes, including prompt engineering and output validation
Operates effectively even when there is uncertainty. Secures and deploys information and resources to address problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes
Communicates well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Holds self and others accountable to meet commitments. Acts with a clear sense of ownership
Can effectively prioritize and sequence activities, shifting from strategic and complex work to tactical implementation, as needed
Actively learns through experimentation when tackling new challenges or facing change. Views failures and mistakes, as well as successes, as opportunities to learn
Readily learns and adopts new technologies or tools
Is proficient with tools such as the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote), and any other role-specific platforms, applications, or systems. Uses the appropriate technologies in the right time and in the right way to find information, communicate ideas, connect with others, and create work products.
Passion for mission-driven work, ideally in a governmental or policy space
Experience and Skills:
Bachelors degree in a data science, computer science, or statistics field (including economics or hard sciences)
Experience in a data-driven organization
Experience working with SQL databases
Experience in more than one programming
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
The starting cash compensation range for the Technical Data Analyst role in Bellevue includes a base salary range of $103,500 to $129,400, plus a 10% performance bonus target opportunity.
The base salary maximum for the role is $155,300 per year. Individual pay increases are assessed annually based on multiple factors such as demonstrated skill in the role and context, progress and performance against goals, and increased experience.

The position is based in Bellevue, WA.
Our organization practices intentional hybrid work. All USAFacts employees are expected to work on-site Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during overlapping core hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Mondays and Fridays remain flexible work-from-home or office workdays.
