Nexstar Media, Denver, CO, has an opening for a Master Control Operator in our Denver CO Operating Center. The Master Control Operator manages tasks related to preparing material for on-air playback via an automation system, supporting a 24/7 TV broadcast operation. The ideal candidate has experience with broadcast automation systems and/or strong computer or IT skills. Experience in a broadcast hub facility is highly desirable. Responsibilities Monitor and control the automation system for proper event execution. Prepare syndicated programming and run commercial breaks during newscasts, high-value network, and sports programming. Manage commercial content media. Verify all aspects of each log in the automation system for accuracy. Ensure compliance with FCC rules, including EAS requirements, closed captioning logs, and the FCC Childrens Television Act. Verify material airing via program logs and contact sources for missing content. Monitor transmitters and tower lights under FCC regulations. Maintain flexibility for shift changes and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Technical degree preferred, but experience in a related field is acceptable. Fluent in English. Minimum of 2 years in Master Control preferred; experience in a broadcast hub is a plus. Experience with Florical automation preferred. Proficiency with IT-based broadcast equipment, server playback, recording, and automation systems. Knowledge of satellite spot delivery systems is advantageous. Ability to work independently with high accuracy, solve problems, and work under deadlines. Flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends. Willingness to undergo a background check and have unrestricted work authorization in the US.
