About the company: A recognized name in New York City’s infrastructure sector, this electrical contractor delivers complex, large-scale projects across transit systems, bridges, tunnels, and civil infrastructure. Known for technical excellence, schedule-driven execution, and trusted relationships with public agencies including MTA, NYCT, LIRR, PANYNJ, and DOT. Role overview: We’re seeking a detail-oriented Senior Electrical Estimator to join our preconstruction team. You will lead the preparation of competitive and negotiated estimates for civil and transit electrical projects—ranging from power distribution, signal systems, lighting, and substations, to complex rail and infrastructure scopes. Key responsibilities: Analyze project plans, specifications, addenda, and related documents to prepare complete, accurate cost estimates Develop detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure full coverage and competitive pricing Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and risk reviews to clarify scope and project constraints Collaborate with project management and operations teams to hand over awarded projects, providing detailed estimate breakdowns and clarifications Maintain and update unit cost databases and historical cost data Support value engineering, constructability reviews, and schedule input during preconstruction Assist with change orders, budget updates, and cost projections as projects progress Qualifications: Minimum
7–10 years of electrical estimating experience , ideally focused on
civil, transit, or heavy infrastructure projects Deep knowledge of NEC, local codes, and agency specifications (e.g., MTA, NYCT, LIRR, PANYNJ) Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documents Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, ConEst, or similar) and MS Excel Solid understanding of local labor rates, productivity factors, and subcontractor market Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to coordinate across teams and meet tight bid deadlines Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience also considered Be part of landmark civil and transit projects shaping NYC’s infrastructure Work in a collaborative environment with senior leadership support Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and career growth opportunities Seniority level
