: The Senior Engineering Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for directing and advancing all engineering functions at the plant level. This includes Manufacturing, Industrial, Controls, and Facilities Engineering. The role involves leading multi-disciplinary teams, setting engineering strategies, driving innovation, and ensuring cross-functional alignment with broader operational goals. The Senior Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in plant performance, continuous improvement, and long-term capital planning. Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development Provide strategic direction for the engineering function aligned with business and operational goals. Mentor, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team; foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. Lead succession planning, organizational design, and professional development programs. Cross-Functional Program & Project Leadership Oversee large-scale and complex engineering projects, including capital improvements, automation initiatives, and new product introductions. Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure engineering solutions support plant KPIs. Develop engineering program roadmaps and facilitate cross-functional project governance. Innovation & Process Optimization Champion lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize throughput. Lead the evaluation and deployment of new technologies, automation systems, and digital transformation efforts. Monitor plant-wide performance metrics and use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement. Risk, Compliance & Safety Oversight Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all relevant regulatory and safety standards. Develop and enforce engineering standards and protocols to ensure reliability and risk mitigation. Lead safety audits and integrate engineering controls for a proactive safety culture. Budgeting, Forecasting & Capital Planning Develop and manage the engineering department’s operational and capital budgets. Lead long-range planning for infrastructure upgrades, energy efficiency projects, and technology investment. Optimize cost performance without compromising reliability or innovation. Evaluate and manage relationships with contractors, OEMs, and engineering services providers. Lead sourcing strategies for critical engineering services and capital procurement. Requirements: Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline required. Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus. Experience 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. * Minimum 5 years in an engineering leadership role, preferably in high-volume or automotive sectors. Technical & Leadership Skills Strong proficiency in engineering systems, reliability, maintenance practices, and automation technologies. Demonstrated experience in Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and data-driven operational improvement. Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Certifications PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, or other relevant certifications are highly desirable. Integrity – adhering to high ethical principles and professional standards.
