to join our AI group. Reporting to the Director of AI, this role will collaborate with legal practice groups, business departments, and technology teams to develop generative-AI solutions that improve decision-making and efficiency across legal and operational areas, including tools to support attorneys and department heads with complex business and compliance challenges. This senior, hands-on position involves owning the full lifecycle: designing data pipelines, training and fine-tuning large language models, deploying services for production, and working directly with legal stakeholders to define the product roadmap. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Director of AI to evaluate, implement, and integrate AI tools aligned with department needs. Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI systems, including RAG pipelines, fine-tuned LLMs, and workflows automating legal processes. Manage MLOps tasks such as CI/CD, model evaluation, monitoring, A/B testing, and rollback strategies. Work with attorneys and technical managers to translate legal requirements into technical solutions and prototypes. Securely ingest privileged data, implement vector databases, and retrieval strategies respecting confidentiality and compliance. Establish coding standards, testing frameworks, and observability practices; mentor junior engineers. Assess emerging Gen-AI tools, open-source models, and vendor solutions, guiding build-vs-buy decisions. Create scripts, connectors, and automation to integrate AI services with firm systems. Build prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions to evaluate AI capabilities in the firm’s environment. Utilize APIs and SDKs for interoperability between AI platforms and internal systems. Assist with technical assessments of AI vendors, ensuring solutions are scalable and secure. Support pilots and early adoption, troubleshooting technical issues to ensure readiness. Stay informed on emerging AI technologies relevant to legal services. Document architectures, integration methods, and operational procedures. Act as a technical partner to the Director of AI, translating strategic initiatives into actionable solutions. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in ML/AI systems in production. Expertise in Python (3.10+), deep experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow/Keras, and familiarity with Gen-AI tools (Hugging Face, LangChain, RAG, fine-tuning, RLHF). Cloud proficiency with AWS or GCP, including container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and GPU workloads. Experience designing APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures; proficient with REST, GraphQL, gRPC. Strong product instincts, ability to translate legal needs into technical solutions. Bonus: experience with regulated data, privacy controls. Proficiency in Python scripting and API integration. Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, SDKs, and deploying cloud AI services. Problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and collaborate effectively. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.
