Control Systems Engineer

to join our team at Eichleay. This full-time position will be based at one of our client sites in

Billings, Montana . It includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring a 401K match, and Employer HSA contribution. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years' experience in PLC (programmable logic controller) and HMI (human machine interface) programming and maintenance, supporting industrial facilities. Compensation:

$120,000- $170,000 *anticipated annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal peer equity. The listed pay range is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of posting. Job Duties/Responsibilities Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, configuration, and optimization of plant PLC and HMI systems Analyze and resolve control system and human machine interface issues Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on instrumentation and network configuration Perform upgrades, configuration changes, and tuning of plant PLCs for safety, reliability, and efficiency Assist in alarm rationalization and maintain technical documentation such as P&IDs and control logic diagrams Participate in PLC design, testing, and commissioning for projects and upgrades Ensure safety and operational protocol compliance, including SIS Support site engineering, project teams, and contractors on capital projects Modify PLC programs and HMI graphics to support plant operations Provide after-hours support when needed, including emergency call outs Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLCs, and HMI systems Job Requirements Proven experience maintaining plant PLC and HMI programs and equipment Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability Understanding of refinery operations, process automation, instrumentation, and related technologies Familiarity with Windows PCs, servers, IP networking, and virtualization Ability to interpret P&IDs, cause and effect tables, wiring diagrams, and refinery documentation Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines Ability to work effectively in high-paced, stressful environments Preferred Skills/Experience Basic understanding of field instrumentation Familiarity with SPI Experience working onsite at a refinery Industry Requirements This role may require safety training, background screening, drug testing, and certification such as RSO, client safety, TWIC, etc. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain badges and comply with site rules regarding infectious diseases. Work Environment and Physical Demands Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, specific vision abilities, and the need for overtime work. Work may be performed at client sites or facilities, following site-specific rules and protocols. All opportunities require authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
