Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a talented Project Director to join our Project Management Department in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on challenging design projects for clients in the power industry. Responsibilities
Manage mid-large capital power projects, particularly in combined cycle power plants, overseeing multiple engineering disciplines and vendor management from inception through start-up and commissioning. Monitor, report, and control project costs and schedules across all phases. Lead all project aspects, including managing staff, providing strategic vision, and ensuring project quality and productivity. Coordinate with overseas High Value Engineering offices and develop administrative, technical, and corporate procedures to ensure project success. Oversee project personnel, support planning, scheduling, and design quality, and ensure scope, schedule, and budget adherence. Build and maintain client relationships, ensuring their requirements are met and contractual obligations fulfilled. Implement project management and quality systems, maintain accurate documentation, and prepare monthly progress reports. Manage invoicing processes, act as liaison with finance, and oversee management of change processes. Develop new business opportunities and participate in business development activities. Plan upcoming tasks, identify potential issues, and prioritize staffing and technical resources. Recruit, train, and develop staff to meet project needs and track employee skill development. Develop project proposals, scopes of work, and budgets. Field activities include data collection, site visits, some climbing, and occasional travel. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. 15-20 years of experience in power projects, specifically in combined cycle power plants. 8-10 years of project management experience. Proven ability to manage projects from small to mid-large cap, with budgets of $100MM TIC and above. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination and client interaction. Organized, self-directed, capable of multitasking, and team-oriented. Willingness to learn and adapt across multiple industries. Willingness to travel and work in diverse environments, including construction sites and offices. Compliance with vaccination requirements as per company or site policies. Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role requires communication via various methods, site visits, and mobility in industrial environments with PPE. The employee will work primarily in the office but may spend time on construction sites or industrial facilities, which can involve moderate to high noise levels and physical activity.
