Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) Promise Academy – top-performing K-12 charter schools within HCZ’s cradle-to-career pathway of comprehensive services – seeks Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Coach for the upcoming school year. The STEM Coach will bring a passion for the goal of HCZ Promise Academy: to get all our scholars to and through college. The ideal candidate cares deeply about children, respects the culture of Harlem’s residents, and is eager to make an impact in our community and beyond. A dedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise Academy Master’s degree in education with at least 5 years of teaching experience is required 2 – 5 years of teaching experience in an urban school setting is desired New York State certification in STEM field is preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Who you are: Subject Matter Expertise Possesses a strong background in stem fields with deep knowledge of at least one or more STEM disciplines (engineering, computer science, biology, chemistry , mathematics, etc). Remains up to date with advancements in STEM education, tools, and technology Instructional Coaching Skills Possesses strong communication skills and is able to clearly explain complex STEM topics to others. Able to evaluate student work constructively and provide targeted, growth-oriented feedback. Leadership and Team Building Encourages creativity, resilience, and curiosity in scholars and staff members. Creates an environment where all students feel welcome and supported, regardless of skill level or background. Manages group dynamics and mediates issues professionally. Project and Time Management Makes the most of limited resources and budget constraints. Sets and tracks clear objectives for team process and individual development. Technology Proficiency Proficient with google suite programs (word, sheets, ect). Commitment to Equity and Access in STEM Actively works to support access for all scholars to STEM education and promotes future trajectory in the STEM fields. What you’ll do: Coaches and trains the teachers on the STEM curriculum. Teaches targeted STEM interventions to individual scholars and small groups of scholars using research-based strategies. Uses assessments to diagnose math strengths and weaknesses, and match these skills with appropriate techniques. Supports the implementation of assessments. Collects data to assess the effectiveness of teaching strategies, providing targeted support based on this data. Models effective teaching practices for staff. Collaborates with teachers, education directors, and principals to monitor progress. Collaborates with principals regarding the areas of strength and weakness of their staff. Provides supplemental instruction to scholars in need during extended learning opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned. The salary range for this position is

$123,000 to $133,000

Support content-specific teams in developing and implementing curriculum materials and assessments on a need basis. Support the effective collection/warehousing of math performance data. Communicate consistently with the STEM Director and school leaders to ensure the needs of schools are being met. Must be accessible for emergencies that require support after work hours and on the weekends.
