Role Summary
We are seeking a talented and driven Systems Engineer focusing on the development of advanced power moding strategies to join our team. In this role, you will drive the design, development, and validation of vehicle power mode management systems, ensuring optimal energy efficiency, performance, and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, power electronics, embedded systems, and software development processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance the user experience and align with our commitment to innovation and quality.
Responsibilities
Define and document system-level requirements, decomposition, and traceability for vehicle power mode management throughout the development lifecycle. Collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams to establish interfaces between power moding systems and other vehicle subsystems (e.g., battery management system, thermal management system, infotainment system). Create and maintain system design documentation, including functional block diagrams, sequence diagrams, state diagrams, and interface control documents. Support feature verification test case definition & ensure traceability to all respective requirements. Ensure vehicle quality through functional analysis using hierarchical DFMEA. Contribute towards functional safety concepts (FuSa). Contribute towards electrical architecture decisions. Support troubleshooting issues found during integration, manufacturing, and service.
Qualifications
Minimum of B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience with systems design and integration. Requirement management tool experience (such as Jama, Polarion, & DOORS). Experience with power electronic validation efforts at different test levels (vehicle, systems, SIL, & HIL). Experience with DFMEA and associated tools (IQRM, Plato). Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment. Self-motivated: Demonstrated ability to set direction and guide a team towards it. Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills. Preferred experiences: Experience with automotive network architecture and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet). Experience with automotive electrical systems or energy management systems. Hands-on experience with system validation and testing automation (HIL environments). Experience with safety critical systems design and integration. Experience with root cause analysis (5W, 8D, etc.) and issue resolution.
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants : $135,100 - $168,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary : Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
